Installation Wizard on Vista complains about Symantec numbered services
Last modified: 2019-10-07 17:38:21 UTC
Run installation wizard 2.2.0 on Vista with Norton Internet Security List of numbered processes detected (about 12) which wizard claims are using files it needs to update These were all related to Norton IS. Perhaps the same will happen with other security software. Clicked 'ignore' and everything seems to have installed fine, however the message will worry most 'ordinary' users. Ideally, these processes should be ignored by the wizard (if they can/should be) or the user needs to be told to close down security software (which he may not know how to do). This doesn't seem to be required for installation of other applications (though it is sometimes recommended) and would be very unpopular.
installation?
IS -> FL: What do you think, would be the best for the user? I suppose there is not much we can do to avoid this dialog, because it is generated by the Windows Installer service.
Windows Vista is end-of-life now
