Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 76286
Canvas size of Draw object should match object size
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:36:07 UTC
Currently, when you embed a Draw object in a Write document, the frame in the Write document works like a window onto a full-page Drawing canvas. The scroll bars in the frame determine which part of the canvas ends up in the Write document. IMHO, it would be better there were no scroll bars in the frame of the write document (the scroll bars do not help the user)- instead the frame should determine the canvas size of the Drawing. This is an improvement because then when you open the drawing for full editing (like to get access to zoom in/out), then the frame size will be evident from within Draw. A counter argument to this is that the scroll bars help you pick what to display if you are trying to embed an existing Draw object in Write. I think for this case, the user will want to always embed the entire drawing- it should be scaled to fit within the frame. Or rather, the initial frame size should match the existing drawing size, then the user can adjust it from within Write.
Reassigned.
