Description mschipperheyn1 2007-04-22 20:03:23 UTC
Often times I create a new slide by positioning the cursor behind the last
bulleted text and pressing SHIFT+TAB. When I do this I often find that the text
gets only partly formatted to the header style. The text size may be different
and the text often still had a bullet in front of it.

This kind of behaviour: text doesn't adher to paragraph style even when you
actually select the style for the parapgraph in the style menu occurs a lot in
Writer too. It's my main gripe with Open Office.

Cheers,

Marc

Please write a step by step description to reproduce the bug.
In which view does the bug occures (I suppose it's the outline view)
Comment 3 mschipperheyn1 2007-04-23 16:27:40 UTC
Yes, it is in the outline view. I don't have time for a step-by-step now. Will
do later.

Hi Marc,
You create a new slide by Shft-Tab?

Almost always. You don't? :-)
It's the fastest way to work in the outline view. I try to avoid using the mouse
because it slows me down.
I guess I could use CTRL + N or something. But this IMHO "should" work.

Shft-Tab only works at the beginning of a line, not at the end or half way the line.
I cannot see any ill-formatted text as a result.
Sorry.
Also in Writer, I'm very pleased with the stability of applying styles.
So maybe you can give more information on type of document, OS, version OOo,
test documents etc.
Thanks.

I understand that SHIFT-TAB only works at the beginning of the line. Happens on
and off.

I have constant issues with applying styles in Writer. But whenever I report
these issues, they are apparently hard to reproduce and they are rejected. I
also find them reproducable on and off. I work with OpenOffice every day,
particularly Writer. I copy a lot from Word documents and always save my
documents as Microsoft Word XP, Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Powerpoint formats.
Perhaps this has something to do with it. I would expect everybody who does so
and uses styles extensively (as opposed to "by hand formatting") to run into
these issues also.

Thanks for the hint with saving in PPT.
Set to new and change the target.
Comment 9 christian.guenther 2007-04-25 18:26:29 UTC
- start an Impress and choßose a title text layout.
- change to the outline view
- enter a title text and 2 paragraphs of text.
- save the document as ppt.
- make a reload
- change to the outline view again
- go to the begining of the second paragraph and press shift tab to 'make a new
slide'
- the text become the title text of the new slide but the 'first level' bullet
still exists.
I send the issue to you because the bug doesn't occurs without saving it as ppt.
Please have a look.
