Description ddaniels 2002-09-11 23:20:38 UTC
before writing this i searched the help dialog for
-hot key
-quick keys

It would be very nice if there was a way to activate/view the hotkey
information in the mnemonic rollover for a tool in OO

thank you

I never missed for that, I am not sure what I should think about an
enhancement likt that. Is it helpful to learn the hotkeys or only
senseless text-addition? I change
priority P3 --> P4
OS --> all
Platform --> all

and leave this UNCONFIRMED without any further action

corrected summary (original: mnemonics for hotkeys), adjusted
priority, setting target-milestone, confirming, reassigning to ui.

(mnemonic: the keys used to navigate in a menu or dialog (underlined))

Is there any possibility of reconsidering this choice? People don't look in the
menus for the things on the toolbar.

Yes. And this is the problem.

I love working with keyboard shortcuts in software I use often. Makes me
faster, especially in repetitive tasks.

This request is to enhance the learning experience and do become a power user
faster: By showing the keyboard shortcut in the tooltip, OOo guides the user to
use the keyboard and makes that an enjoyable learning experience.

Contrast that with the current state: you need to know where to look for the
shortcut, and you need to not use the icon but the menu. So currently OOo
trains you to just use the mouse and the icon and to not learn the shortcu

please reopen and reconsider.
