Description sled10guy 2007-05-04 00:31:59 UTC
NOTE: This bug was originally reported here -
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=224305

Tested Build:
Downloaded OOo_2.2.0_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE_en-US.tar.gz package from:
http://openoffice.bouncer.osuosl.org/?product=OpenOffice.org&os=linuxintelwjre&lang=en-US&version=2.2.0

Problem -
When asking OOo Writer to record changes, it seems to fail to record the
deletion of a row from a table.

This is a general problem of object structure changes tracking.
Basically, Writer can only track text changes.

This applies to:
Tables
Frames
Haders
Footers
Graphics
...

For some or all of those actions
Insert
Delete
Formatting
...

Note: when implementing those trackings, we may choose the way MS-Word does when
encountering technical deadends: warn the user!
Ex (in Word):
- delete a table row -> change tracked
- delete a table column -> Warning: "Action will not be tracked - Do you want to
continue?"

Missing tracking of changes (without any notice to the user) is a severe bug and
not a feature. I just compared two versions (mine and one of a colleague)
containing some tables. By merging both documents I missed due to bug 76935 some
changes that were actually made to tables, but that were not displayed.

Please consider this earlier than "OOo Later". Thank you.

@MBA: Reassigning to you in case we have some resources for this.

It's very annoying bug, i forced to work with large amount of MS Word documents that has tracked changes in table and paragraph structure and I can't even normally read such documents because of structure inconsistency.

Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
