Description markvolz 2007-05-06 21:31:08 UTC
One of my main concerns before I made the switch to open office was that before
there was no data: text to columns feature - something that I use all the time.
Fortunately I did see that Calc does indeed have that feature via the paste
special> unformatted text.

I think that the way of accessing the calcs method of data>text to columns is
too obscure to find for many users; after all ms excel has the text to columns
feature in a huge icon with its data banner.

I am thankful that there is the paste special> unformatted text>delimited
feature. I just think it is too hidden for most people.

Duplicate of Issue 4040.

As of v2.2, text pasted into Calc from an unknown source will invoke the Text
Import dialog box, you shouldn't need to do "paste special."

There is also a macro available to do this to a range of data (as Excel does) here:
