Description vabijou 2007-05-30 12:23:47 UTC
Currently, there is no ability to add a polynomial regression curve to chart
data. This functionality should be added since it is a very commonly occurring
curve shape in the engineering and scientific worlds.

Please write the function type, which do you miss, as term as for linear
regression "y=m*x+b" would be.

From a description given on

Polynomial regression fits data to this equation:

Y = A + Bx + Cx^2 + Dx^3 + Ex^4 .....

You can include any number of terms. If you stop at the second (B) term, it is
called a first-order polynomial equation, which is identical to the equation
for a straight line. If you stop after the third (C) term, it is called a
second-order, or quadratic, equation. If you stop after the fourth term, it is
called a third-order, or cubic, equation

That is a very clear description of the desired feature. Therefore I hesitate to
close it as duplicate of issue 20819. I think, developer should decide, with
which one they can work better.
