Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 78355
Numbering style is displayed as blank when outline numbering is selected
Last modified: 2007-06-13 07:37:29 UTC
When you activate outline numbering for a specific paragraph style, then visit that style's dialogue box, its associated numbering style is blank. If you change the numbering style associated with that paragraph style, the style is no longer associated with outline numbering. There are several solutions to this problem, some more desirable than others. - In the Numbering Style drop-down, display "controlled by outline numbering"; perhaps have it grayed-out so that you have to disable outline numbering for this style before changing its numbering. - (much better) Add "Outline Numbering" 1, 2, 3... to the numbering styles. In the Outline config, DO NOT have numbering formatting; simply select what numbering style to associate with whatever paragraph style is being activated for outlining.
In addition, you could eliminate the Outline Numbering dialogue completely, instead having Outline Numbering as a paragraph style option (since that's really what it should be). You would check off a box to enable inclusion of this style in the outline, and then you would select from a dropdown what level this paragraph style would belong to.
This will be changed in issue 70748. Outline list style will then be visible in the paragraph dialog and in the Stylist. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 70748 ***
