Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 7884
Error while undoing the 'columns'
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:14:57 UTC
Here are the steps for replicating this bug : 1.Open a new OpenOffice Word-processor document. 2.Type in or paste some one or two lines of sample text.(Don't slect the text) 3.Select --- Format ... Columns 4.Make the 'Columns' field value to 3 (arbitrary value). [here we have page divided into 3 columns] 5.Press 'undo' button. Bug : When pressed the 'undo' button for the first time , the text in the word processor vanishes , instead of undoing the 'columns' action. Thereafer the undo button gets 'dimmed' or 'disabled' and there is no way to cancel the 'columns' on the page. Thank you.
What gave you the idea that this is an API issue?
changing the component obviously does not change the owner :-(
Indeed undo does not undo the column formatting when it is pressed. Instead it undoes the typing of the text, one character at a time. So the undo feature seems to be oblivious to the column format change. As a workaround, the columns can be removed by going back to the format columns box, and selecting number of columns=1. I performed my tests on OOo 1.0.1 on Win98.
oops! forgot to set the confirmed flag.
The number of columns is a part of our page template. Changes in template are not "undoable" at the moment and in the near future. But of course it is a good idea to extend the undo feature, so I'll keep it as reminder.
