- remove you user layer
- be shure that the office can''t connect to a server (removing the proxy settings)
- start the check for update dialog in help - check for updates
- dialog comes up checking
- check stops with the description 'could not establish internet connection....'
- close the dialog
- in the menu bar you'll see the notification icon
- Expected: no notification icon
