When opening an application window the operating system determines what the window size will be. Since 
Writer currently has its default zoom level fixed at 100% it can easily happen that there is a mismatch 
between this default size and the paper size => there is a huge ugly gray area  outside the page view

Applications with page formatting should adjust their default zoom level so that the page size matches the 
window size.
