Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 79225
Subscript & Superscript formatting is not working
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:42:39 UTC
The standard Ctrl+Shift+B, Ctrl+Shift+P show up in the Tools > Customize > Keyboard list, but they have no effect on the text, either on selected text, or while typing. I'm not sure when this appeared--it works in 2.2.1
OS changed to "Linux"--that's the only system I've tested.
Reassigned to ES.
Using the Development version 2.3, I noticed (in Windows) that the superscript and subscript buttons in the toolbar do nothing. I can type something like 1st to get into superscript mode.
as described.
->es: Please don't forget the target, now set to 2.x

I've closed issue 79922 which is about not working toolbar buttons as duplicate of this. If it is not the same problem, please reopen it.
Also confirmed with OOo-Dev 680m221. Keyboard shortcuts and 'Style' buttons do not change the selection to sub- / superscript. Workaround: you may change the character formatting 'Format>Character>Position'. ->'os', is the 2.X target correct? If you plan on shipping 2.3 with such an apparent regression, I would imagine there may be some complaints... Cheers, Andrew
Created attachment 47268 [details] This patch fixes the issue
Target changed to OOo 2.4 - might become a 2.3.1
Super- and subscript are important features of a word processing software and it should be out of the question to ship 2.3 without this working properly (Keyboard shortcut and toolbar buttons).
First, please have a look at (today is the 20th August): http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OOoRelease23 Second, even if 2 shortcuts (the functionality is there) are missing, it's not a showstopper!

It's actually the 23rd now, but a word processor with not working shortcuts and toolbar buttons for often used formatting isn't going to be very useful. Come on, I recently signed up to help this project along, are you telling me I'd much better completely lose my confidence in you and switch to Word? [q]Second, even if 2 shortcuts (the functionality is there) are missing, it's not a showstopper![/q] Disgusting.
Set target as both acting release managers agreed on 2.3 at releases@. Thanks. Heiner: please make sure it makes it into m3. Thank you.
