Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 79511
Word document, image has opaque layer
Last modified: 2013-11-22 10:14:22 UTC
A word document that consists of an image, when opened with OOo shows a white rectangle over 95% of the image. I assume this is a layer in the original image which has been resized too large by OOo. How do I reduce the size of this layer so that I can see and print the page?

I can confirm the issue with 2.2.1
I viewed the ascii inside the .doc file and noticed a reference to an EMF (enhanced metafile) image.
MRU->SJ: could you please have a look if this is possibly the same bug as in issue 79410. The graphics in the doc file show VERY similar symptoms.
Isn't this related to EMF transparency being lost? So maybe related to: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=45715
As it has been over 1 year since I submitted this, I have just checked the example uploaded document again in Open Office 3.0, and confirm the bug still exists.
I had the same problem today with a new DOCX file that was sent to me. It was viewable in Office Starter and WordPad in Windows 8.0; but not viewable in LibreOffice 4.1
