In OOCalc it is not possible to insert new row or column in a merge cell means 
we cannot split merge cells in OOo

Sorry, but splitting cells is possible. Just use the button on the toolbar.

Inserting into merged cells is a double to Issue 8302 .

Please use the query facilities of Issuezilla before submitting Issues.
