Description norbert2 2007-08-20 18:51:52 UTC
Hi.

Please ...

- open a blank spreadsheet

- enter "10" into cell A1

- apply Currency-format to cell A1

- enter "=A1" into cell A2:

Note that the Currency-format is adopted for A2. This is ok.

(Right-click A2 "Format Cells...", in the tab "Numbers" you can see, that
"Standard"-format is selected. This is in my oppinion ok: Calc uses format of
referenced cell if format "Standard" is applied. )

- right-click cell A1 "Default" in order to remove Currency-format

Note that A2 still uses Currency-format!

- save the spreadsheet as ods-file

- close the spreadsheet

- reload the saved spreadsheet:

Now A2 uses correctly the format of A1.

(Note: If you do the same steps but use xls-format instead of ods-format, A2
gets Currency-format applied in the saved xml-file.)

Please forgive me for Priority P2. But I want to have this issue to be quickly
confirmed. :-)

Feel free to set it to P3, although I think this should be fixed as soon as
possible.

Sorry there is a copy&paste problem in my initial description. Here are the
correct steps again:

- open a blank spreadsheet

- enter "10" into cell A1

- apply Currency-format to cell A1

- enter "=A1" into cell A2:

Note that the Currency-format is adopted for A2. This is ok.

(Just for understanding Calc's handling of number-formats for cells containing
references:
Right-click A2 "Format Cells...", in the tab "Numbers" you can see, that
"Standard"-format is selected. This is in my oppinion ok: Calc uses format of
referenced cell if format "Standard" is applied. )

- right-click cell A1 "Default" in order to remove Currency-format:
Note that A2 still uses Currency-format!

(Right-click A2 "Format Cells...", in the tab "Numbers" you can see, that
"Standard"-format is still selected.)

- save the spreadsheet as ods-file

- close the spreadsheet

- reload the saved spreadsheet:

Now A2 uses correctly the format of A1.

------------------
(Note: If you do the same steps but use xls-format instead of ods-format, A2
gets Currency-format applied in the saved xml-file.)
