Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 80878
15 Macro alerts if Java not correctly installed
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:43:03 UTC
Open a Write Document, insert a PNG inside it. Save as "MS Word/97/2000/XP .doc". Make a right click on the PNG and select the "Picture..." menu. Click on the Macro Tab. An red alert appears : JRE is Defective OpenOffice.org requires Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. The selected JRE is defective. Please select another version or install a new JRE and select it under Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - Java. OK Click OK. Another 14 exactly similar alerts will appear ! Could it be possible to only show one alert. My JRE has been updated but each time after an upgrade of OpenOffice, it reports Java is not up to date and disable it... a bit annoying to always ask the very very latest java RT.
Works for me in Win XP with both J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11 and Java(TM) 6 Update 2 installed. Which version of Java do you have? If only V6, try installing V5.
Reassigned to JSK.
duplicate to issue 79125 ?
@mci: Not a dupe this is about defective Java, the other about no Java at all. @traderstf: Can you try to reinitilize your java by going to tools/options->OpenOffice.org/Java and let it find your java installation. Maybe you have multiple Java versions installed, select the most recent one. Does this help? This is most likely something with your setup as we do hundreds of installations/upgrades a day without running into any java problems.
Sorry, I had to reinstall my PC as M$ Windows crashed. I can no more help you on this.

Issue 80970 is not a dupe. I had a problem with my browser cache

Setting target 3.0, all platforms jsk->ab: I believe we had this issue before but it just does not show up in my intray anymore. Something for you? Do you possibly know the ID of the older issue?
ab->jl: Please have a look
JL->MRU: Please try to reproduce it. If this is not possible then close it. "JRE defective" means that the java runtime could not be started. This typically indicates that there is something wrong with the installation of the JRE.
