Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 81143
file linked OLE draw object, view port issues
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:36:36 UTC
When using OLE to link to a draw object the link can only attach to the last saved viewpoint of the drawing. This is very annoying, because; 1) if the file is modified and the view area shifted then the drawing gets disaligned in write creating a mess and a lot of work to fix. 2) if multiple slides are used in draw only 1 slide can be used on any files the link to that draw, thus requiring the slides of the drawing to be split over many files. 3) if a large drawing is created only 1 perspective/view of the drawing can be given. thus requiring the sections of the drawing to be split over many files. Can the writers OLE links allow a static setable viewpoint in the file based on coords and slide
This refers to all applications, as long as you might choose a certain part of a calc spreadsheet or a certain page of a writer text document as a "OLE viewport" for a linked object.
I am interested in this issue. I am going to try to file a bug to improve the behavior of writer. If this works, perhaps we can revisit your bug report and see if what you observe is less annoying. Lawrence
