Description gvsa123 2007-09-18 17:54:53 UTC
i'm not sure whether this would be a duplicate of 76233 or 75782

after installing tl_PH and adding:

DICT tl PH tl_PH

to the dictionary.lst, the tagalog dictionary is still not present in:

tools>options>language settings>languages>"default language for documents"

to workaround this problem, i still use the old trick of assigning a language i
don't use to the tl_PH.dic file, as in:

DICT en GB tl_PH

so that choosing english(UK) as the default language will allow me to spell
check tagalog written documents.

as of OOo 2.3 on winxp, tagalog is already present from within the spell
checker, which is i think, what issue 76233 was referring to... but it left out
the above problem (i think)

please refer to our discussion in the forum for more details (and screenshots!)

i have also posted in the above mentioned issues. please check them. thanks.

Just found this one. Confirmed.

TL->ER: Eike can you please take care of this when you are back from vacation?
Comment 2 thomas.lange 2008-05-13 10:54:19 UTC
TL->gvsa123: the dictionaries available for spell checking etc. do have nothing
to do with the list of languages in this dialog.

However even though I'd known about restrictions for the list of languages in
the locale settings list box I was unaware of a similar issue for the default
document language list. I had expected them to be the same as the ones in the
Format/Character dialog...

TL->ER: Looking a bit closer in this I found there are quite a few other
languages not listed as document default languages as well. Is this a bug?

sorry i lost the comments..

TL> i understand now that the issue is not with the spell checker. should the
subcomponent be changed?

not sure if this is a genuine bug, but one might naturally expect to be able to
set a language as default for documents if that user can use it to check the
spelling of documents.

this still persists in beta. should a different issue be filed?

Comment 7 thomas.lange 2008-05-16 09:32:15 UTC
TL->gvsa123: there is no need for a different issue.
Comment 8 Olaf Felka 2008-05-16 09:48:22 UTC
Please don't change the version entry. It indicates in which version the issue
has been found. If it hasn't been fixed it it pretty logical that it will still
Comment 9 thomas.lange 2008-05-16 09:51:17 UTC
TL->OF: Sorry. Please consider this a problem of the tooling
since changing the component also required me to set the version entry without
letting me know it was already set.

In order to make the language available as default document language (and in
number formatting) locale data must be contributed. Setting keyword 'needhelp'
for this.

For details please see the locale data DTD
and as a sample locale data file for example the en_US locale

You can easily generate a locale data file for your locale with the
generator available at
Please read the comments in the DTD file mentioned above for details.
