Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 81806
online update with internal server
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:32:28 UTC
Hi folks, Another feature will be great: allow to modify the "Update Server" We have many stations on a LAN and it's a bad thing that each client goes to download on internet. If we can to set to our own server, we could to control the update process. I don't know if this issue must be added to 74470 Thank you

It is already possible to let OOo connect to some internal server by changing the key "UpdateURL" in the version.ini located in the office's program directory. Another option for multi client scenarios is to deselect the OOo online update module during installation and pushing the updates using 3rd party deployment tools.
@obr: OK to modify UpdateURL key but this URL jump to check.Update file. How can I to do with an internal server?
All you need is an internal Web-Server (or Blog-Engine). The protocol is described here: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Update_Notification_Protocol. Let me know which parts of the doc are hardly understandable and should be improved (as specific as possible). Any help on improving the doc is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the wiki. Just some questions: Paragraph "Update documents and feeds" Which name given to the reply form? Where can I found the specific syntax for this file with my OOo?
> Which name given to the reply form? You can give it any name you like (I mostly use "update.xml"). You just have to make sure the UpdateURL entry in the version.ini file matches this name. > Where can I found the specific syntax for this file with my OOo? I am not sure I understand your question here. What you read on the wiki _is_ the syntax description of the expected replies. Should I explain the tags and where to get the values from in more detail ? (They can be grabbed from the version.ini of the OOo version you want to notify).
