Description gioppo 2007-10-17 08:54:01 UTC
I realized a Java uno_package to access a web service so that inside the
document I can retrieve a list to populate the combobox dynamically.
The problem is that I need to deploy the uno_package.zip to openoffice before
the document can access the service from scriptbasic.

This means that every person that want to use the document (that is an empty
module to be used by many people) has to install a package, an operation not
easy to many users.
It could be really usefull to be able to deploy the component inside the
document (like a macro itself) so that there will be no need to install
anything.
Do not know if there is a workaround to the problem, but found no documentation
about it.
Thanks
Luca

Hi Luca,

I see and understand your use case. IMHO it fits nicely to an overall
"construction kit" approach for OOo, though I don't know yet, when and how we
are going to approach this.

I hope it is OK for you, that we keep this issue open as a feature request for
further improvement and generalization.

It's OK for me.
I believe that if could be possible to teach OO to look inside a document
registry and could be possibile to deploy inside a document the things could be
done.
Obviously doing so could be a performance hog (having a distributed registry).
In any case let's let it open.
Thanks
Luca
