Description oldetc 2007-10-17 20:01:24 UTC
Description of Problem:
I load my spread sheet, which has some cell recursions (can't be helped).
When I update it I get error 523 which shows in the help file as:
523
The calculation procedure does not converge
Function missed a targeted value, or iterative references do not reach the
minimum change within the maximum steps that are set.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1.load the spread sheet with the recursive cells
2.make any change
3. get error 523
4. turn off iteration in tools>options>calc>calculate
5. click OK.
6. turn on iteration in tools>opetions>calculate and set iterations to 2000 or
greater.
7. click OK.
8. error is fixed and calculation is good.
9. remove the change.
10. the error returns.
11. Check iterations and it has reset to 1000 (insufficient for my needs)
12. go back to step 4.

Actual Results:
error keeps returning, iteration count is reset and insufficient.

Expected Results:
changing the iteration count should work and save the desired value. given
todays processors, an iteration count of 32K or 64K would not be unreasonable.

How often does this happen?
every time.

Additional Information (OS patch level, drivers, library
version, etc.)
OO version 2.2.1

I can provide the spreadsheet to the programmer, but do not want it posted
(personal information on it.)

Hi,

sorry for the late reply.

Could you be so kind and send a document showing your problem to my Mail account
fst at openoffice.org ?

BTW does the problem persists with OOo2.3.1 ?

Thanks for your Help.

Hi,

thanks for the PNG but could you send me a file which shows the problem?
Currently I can't reproduce it. And Yes, only development gets the file.
