Description sciuriware 2002-10-14 13:48:40 UTC
Since MS Word97 we can create links inside documents by Copy / Past as
Hyperlink.
Even the smalles example of such a document is rejected by OOWriter 1.0.1

Importance: such document-items are very invaluable as multi-level table-of-
contents and as simplified "see-also" links.

Thank you for using and supporting OOo.

You may want to try bookmarks as a workaround to this problem,
sciuriware.

Duplicated on Win NT 4.0 SP6a, OOo 643.

PM->CMC:

Do we support the following MS field code and switches:

HYPERLINK \l <field> \s <field>

where

\l Specifies a location in the file, such as a bookmark, where this
   hyperlink will jump.

\s Specifies the location to jump to that is not a named location.
This switch appears when you create a hyperlink by dragging
information. It does not appear in the list of switches in the
Fields dialog box (Insert menu); you should not insert it manually
   into the field code.

Do I understand well that I must wait, at least till the next
release of Writer?
As I want to import my WORD documents and proceed to maintain those
with Oo, I can't make use of workarounds.

The hyperlink fields have \s field optionss in them which are not one
of the field options that word list as being available for hyperlinks.
Appears that word ignores the text after the \s so we should do so as
well instead of what we currently as doing :(, unless anyone has an
idea what the \s might do ?

fix checked in. I'm afraid that by the nature of the beast it will
have to wait until the ver of OOo with this fix included before the
issue is resolved.

Working in SRX644i

PM->CMC:

I listed in my notes what Word uses the \s switch for. Here it is
again:

"Specifies the location to jump to that is not a named location. This
switch appears when you create a hyperlink by dragging information.
It does not appear in the list of switches in the Fields dialog box
(Insert menu); you should not insert it manually into the field code."

Got this straight from Word 2K help file, searching on the HYPERLINK
field code.

*cough*, I obviously didn't read the issue fully. Interestingly the \s
is not in the Word XP help. Looks like its deprecated or something,
fairly obscure. The real problem with this doc is fixed, but good to
know what the \s is for.
Comment 9 michael.ruess 2002-11-14 11:58:48 UTC
I confirm. The option \s does only appear in Word2000's help, in the
one from XP. Also it is not listed in the Filed-dialog.
I also confirm, that the problem is fixed in 644.

Fix will be included in openOffice 1.1 beta
Comment 11 dankegel 2003-05-08 06:03:41 UTC
See also issue 14017. It looks like OO1.1beta1
can indeed import hyperlinks ok, but still can't
export them.
