Adding this option to Writer would please many Users... see:

you are right. however a great exetension can do it in Writer with very good 
results. it's name is CropOOo and you can download it from here: http://
extensions.services.openoffice.org/node/460

i use it in mt OOo 2.4.0 and is great!!!
