Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 84035
OO.o dialog designer inside NetBeans
Last modified: 2013-07-30 02:41:39 UTC
I sent following email to dev@extensions few days ago ... <mail> Hallo all, as there is no easy way how to design and control OpenOffice.org dialogs in NetBeans I'm thinking about this idea. OpenOffice.org window can be added to any Java window => can be used directly in NetBeans. We can add new File type (like OpenOffice.org dialog) in to OpenOffice.org category. When developer selects this file type, OpenOffice.org dialog designer can be opened inside NetBeans window. Developer can design dialog and class, which can handle all dialog controls, can be generated. This is much easier than start OpenOffice.org, design dialog, copy generated dialog into project, write dialog handling class from scratch, put this dialog in to extension configuration file, etc. What do you think? Does it make sense to you? Or is there a plan to make an easier way how to handle dialog controls from Java extension? In other words, is it worth to put some effort in to this? </mail> And Kai's answer ... <mail> Yes, sounds good. We already thought about exactly this -- plugging OOo Dialog Editor Window into Netbeans. The bad thing is that due to other high priority tasks we have not yet had time to implement it. But this is still on our "want to have" list. </mail> I would like to treat this issue as a point where more information about this feature will be collected. For now, I would like to take care of this issue. I don't have much time, but I'll try to write some analysis how this can be done, where we can expect problems, etc. Feel free to take over of this issue any time ... If you already have some analysis, please can you attach it to this issue? All comments, requests are welcome.
