Description Regina Henschel 2007-12-15 00:09:27 UTC
In m239, German language pack, in the scaling tab of the axis options dialog,
the German text "Logarithmische Skalierung" doesn't fit anymore. This is due to
the checkbox for the new property "Reverse direction" (not translated yet).

I made more room for the label by shifting the min, max, etc. fields to the
left, and I also made some controls wider (only those where you don't see it,
like labels) to avoid such problems in the future.

Maybe some day this dialog should be re-arranged, because the labels of the text
boxes are already quite far away from the boxes themselves.

Idea: Maybe the Sub-Tick controls can be arranged side-by-side, thus saving some
space, and then putting the checkboxes on top of each other. See attached mock-up.

I really hate the extra-space between the labels and the text-boxes. Therefore:

I have modified the mockup:
 - optimized the space by combining the 'Interval Mark'-options
 - reduced intervening space
 - brought the labels next to the text-boxes
 - as the 'Logarithmic scale' and 'Reverse direction'
are to the right, there is enough space left to scale
the text in any locale without any adverse effects

There is only one minor issue with this mockup: as I have now only one 'Inner'
and one 'Outer' label, it is more difficult to assign shortcuts to the
checkboxes. [Though one could underline 2 letters inside the labels, or,
alternatively, display the 2 labels two times.]

I think this must be fixed for OOo 2.4 and not for OOo 3.0 so I remove the fix
from CWS chart19 and add this issue to CWS chart15.
Furthermore I find the current solution problematic, because there are now two
string beside each other which each have three words. So there is more conflict
potential added. To avoid that I took another approach:
The global arrangement of the interval mark control is like in OOo 2.3.
Only the spaces between those controls changed.
The new reverse scale check box is below the logarithmic check box like in
Bjoerns solution.
Furthermore I introduced an intelligent layout that calculates the necessary
width for the labels dependent on the current language thus there is not so much
space wasted anymore.

Fixed in CWS chart15.

->Thomas, please verify in CWS chart15.
