Description lsuarezpotts 2007-12-15 23:59:04 UTC
Other builds' About box credits contributors; Mac's points to the out of date and deprecated
http://..../credits.html. It's no longer being maintained and has not been since 2005. The Mac About box
needs to be updated.

Comment 1 lsuarezpotts 2007-12-15 23:59:39 UTC

Comment 3 shaunmcdonald131 2007-12-16 01:32:22 UTC
This is the same url as in the splash screen.

I'm sure this will affect other platforms too.
Comment 4 shaunmcdonald131 2007-12-16 12:34:50 UTC
This is not a mac only issue. It affects all platforms. I don't know who would be responsible for changing
these 2 urls. Maybe it would be simpler to maintain that page for backwards compatibility?
Comment 5 pavel 2007-12-18 20:27:06 UTC
Who is in charge of the page

Comment 6 lsuarezpotts 2007-12-20 18:31:37 UTC
martin is usually. but we have not used that page since 2005, as I thought the About Box had the info.

Comment 7 shaunmcdonald131 2007-12-20 19:36:28 UTC
Very few people actually know how to get that information from the about dialog, as it is an obscure
keyboard shortcut. It is also nice to have this information online too. If that page was deprecated in 2005,
then none of the 2.x series of releases should have had that URL embedded in to the programme.
Comment 8 lsuarezpotts 2008-01-21 18:25:08 UTC
I'd be happy to keep the info online if it's easier to maintain. But I have no idea whom to add.

Comment 10 Mechtilde 2008-08-07 12:22:31 UTC
As far I can see

contains newer informations
Comment 11 Martin Hollmichel 2008-08-08 08:39:50 UTC
yes, but the copyrightapproved list doesn't contain any Sun employees or any
persons which contributed to the code basis before we went opensource. So the
credits list need to be copyright approved plus some more individuals. I'd also
prefer to have just individuals in the credit list, not Companies.
Comment 12 Mechtilde 2008-08-08 08:52:23 UTC
Is it possible to merge the two lists to a new one
Comment 13 lsuarezpotts 2008-08-19 20:56:05 UTC
I don't think we want to merge the two lists. They contain different information. I think, rather, that we
want to maintain a list that fairly and accurately reflects contributions, actual contributions.

A process that exists on paper is for project leads to name contributors; these names then get added to
the list. We have not been doing that, obviously. But I think we should resume the practice, and
synchronize it with the launch of 3.0.

worksforme. the welcome/credits.html is up-to-date again (has last-change date of
2010/02/26 17:49:29)

Comment 16 Mechtilde 2010-10-18 11:38:01 UTC
Reopen because

the welcome/credits.html seems to be up-to-date but don't contain all
distributors which sign the SCA
Comment 17 lsuarezpotts 2010-11-06 03:43:55 UTC
should the welcome credits contain that? If so, why not just point them to that URL, the
copyrightapproved.html page.

Comment 18 khirano 2010-11-06 05:31:21 UTC
Pointing to the copyrightapproved.html page is a good idea.

And we should have a systematic way to update the page.

Reset assigne to the default "".
