Description macias 2008-01-12 19:08:38 UTC
Original report can be found here:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=155550

Start KDE, login, run OOffice-Writer, start new session, login as the same
user, run OOWriter, OOImpress, OOCalc. Nothing? Logout. Now you will find all
those apps running fine at the first session.

hmmm, simply another "one instance per user"-Issue...

@tm: Do you know an Issue we had before? this is a duplicate... :(
Comment 2 macias 2008-01-14 18:44:50 UTC
I can only judge by what you wrote, but from "one instance per user" is not
100% accurate. I can run several instances, without a problem, but not in
different sessions. All of them go to DISPLAY 0.
Comment 3 mci 2008-01-16 07:57:54 UTC
Hi macias,

AFAIR the problem is that only one instance per user is ossible...
This instance may show several windows but AFAIR only one binary is running...

adding mci to CC...
Comment 4 macias 2008-01-16 09:51:03 UTC
Mci, thank you for the comment -- it should be quite possible to run OOWriter
on DISPLAY 1 and OOImpress on DISPLAY 0, right? The simplest case of all
possible.

Anyway, "stealing" instances (i.e. I launch program, but it goes to another
session) is the worst scenario here. Even refusing launch and showing an error
dialog would be better.

Of course, I wish, I could run several instances of the same app from the
suite:-)
Comment 5 mci 2008-01-16 11:57:36 UTC
AFAIR all applications of OOo are the same binary...
==> it's not possible to open Writer on DISPLAY1 and Calc on DISPLAY0 being the
same user... :(

@tm: please correct me if I am wrong... :)

@macias : which OS do you use ? I assume you're using Linux... Please switch OS
type from all to your OS... thanks...

TM->MCI: Yes, your completely right. This is not a defect. So I'll set this
issue to "invalid" and close it.
TM->macias: Please feel free to file an enhancement with your wish for a change
in OOo's behaviour. Thanks !
