Description bulentozkir 2008-02-10 00:10:41 UTC
I really can't put up with not being able to use OpenType fonts in OOo on Linux
much more. It's especially annoying considering that Linux has fully supported
OpenType longer than Windows. It is not cross-platform if somebody with OOo on
Windows or MacOS sends a file to somebody with Linux and the file is a mess
because the Linux user's version of OOo cannot see the fonts used by the Windows
or MacOS user.

@bulentozkir

Please look up issue #78749, issue #16032, and issue #43029 (depending if you
want already implemented OpenType processing enabled for latin/cyrillic
languages, want the full OpenType processing implemented for TTF fonts, or the
full OpenType processing implemented and the OTF format supported)

Yes, I know, you probably need all of those but they've been artificially split
by developpers when issue #16032 started attracting too much votes, limiting the
scope of the issue people had already massively voted on. So don't get into this
trap and do vote/comment on every single issue you care about.

Oh come on, nmailhot, no reason for conspiracy theories. I think it is a *good*
thing these issues have been split up, as the old issue was very vague.

Have you read the following blog posting:

Reassigned to ES.

@ralphie

Had the issue been split early on that would have been all fine and dandy, but
the only effect of splitting four years later is wreaking havoc in the votes and
comment counters, and diluting them. As all the issues deal with OpenType logic
you can't really work on one of them without working on the others. Functionnaly
the split does not make much sense either (in fact part of it had to be undone
for this reason). Meanwhile mega-issues like notes support in writer never got
the soviet salami treatment.

But I guess that's my cynical self speaking. Ignore me.

@nmailhot: yes, I think it is your "But I guess that's my cynical self speaking.
Ignore me." that makes issues *sometimes* (noticed the asterisks? ;) ) go the
wrong way. Please, please, refrain! Try to stuck to the facts as nuch as you can!
Thanx! :)

And spare us, please, with your "soviet" things and bla bla, espially concerning
notes, where I am involved in and where I know that things are going pretty good
now, especially that we are close to the integration, let's say, next week?

So, please, less "bla bla", less emotion! More facts, short and accuratly
expressed! That will spare time for *everybody*! ;)

Now reassining to...

@HDU (aka "Mr Fonts" ;) ): can you find in this issue something new? I mean it
says "OOo can't deal with OpenType fonts". Is that something surprising? Else
please close as duplicate. Thanx!
