Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 86317
Resizing table columns
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:42:13 UTC
The user can resize a column by dragging an edge in the Ruler. For this discussion, let us call the edge between Column A and Column B. Here, the COMBINED width of the columns A and B remain unchanged. The rest of the table also is unaffected. Often the user wants to increase the column WITHOUT affecting the adjacent column. Provide two modifiers to enhance this function: SHFT+drag an edge to reposition the selected edge and all the edges on the right side of it. Thus the table on the right side of the dragged edge remains unchanged. The total width of the table would change. SHFT+ALT+drag an edge for the same effect on the left side of the edge. (Instead of ALT, we can think of CTRL).
Reassigned to requirements.
I've used all my votes already but I've been annoyed by the lack of this feature for quite some time. If I want to resize a column, then I must also re-adjust all the columns to the right of it, every single time. It's upsetting! I'd be surprised if this issue isn't a duplicate.
