Description hgnue 2008-02-26 14:42:12 UTC
The converted tables look OK in a read-only sense. But you can't really edit
the table (as we need to do to update the contents over time).

Here are a list of the problems that make OpenOffice.org tables unusable:
* There is no way to change the color of the background of a cell.
* There is no way to resize a row or column to make room for more or less text.
* Cells do not automatically adjust in size as I add/delete text.
* I cannot add text to an empty cell.

I have an example I can send if this would help

Please have a look to the 2 announcements of the new table feature for impress.

I am glad to see that in 2.4 the ability to create tables will be improved but
this only fixes half of the problem. When we convert tables that were created
in MS Powerpoint we are unable to edit them when the presentations are
converted to Open Office. I also would like to up the priority since this is
preventing our organization from moving to Open Office. I also would like to
keep it open until the newer version has been released. At this time I believe
it is in Beta/test format.
