Description firealwaysworks 2008-03-29 22:51:40 UTC
First of all i would like to say that over all i like open office.

I am trying to copy paste a code comment from scite to open office and I get:
"Requested clipboard format not available"
Even when this feature does work, it just causes damage, please please please
please let me disable it. I have to use abiword because of terrible features
like this. I know i have posted this before, and i know other people complain.
 Please please listen to us!

Thanks,
--Michael

URL?

Dude i just want the ability to disable this train wreak of a feature!

I did this on my Ubuntu box
apt-get install scite
open a new document save it as a .pl then type this line:
#some text that should never be formatted in OO, EVER!

This text will be green in scite.
copy it and then paste it in OO. When you paste it into Open Office you'll get
an error.

I think you totally misunderstand. The auto-text feature hurts my soul. For the
love of god this feature needs to be disabled. For one its FUCKING BUGY and
even when it does work, its FUCKING USELESS.

I NEEED TO DISABLE THIS FEATURE. I AM USING ANOTHER TEXT EDITOR BECAUSE I HATE
THIS SO MUCH.

We're not on a geeky chat room here! So please, refrain using such things like
"dude", "f*king" and shouting out loud for "I hate this and that.".

I understood "scite", which I didn't know, as "(Web-)site". That's why "URL".

Please try:
1. If you use Ubuntu OOo version, install a originall and current OOo version from:
http://download.openoffice.org/680/?intcmp=1235

2. "Edit - Paste Special" and choose another format than the default format
which fails.

We'll have to investigate why the default format fails between scite and OOo...

PS: to be clear, you use the term "Auto-text" for "default clipboard format" in
your description. Not in the meaning of "Edit - AutoText".

@AMA: as tested on solaris
(/share/staroffice/program/solaris-sparc/scite/bin/SciTE), the default clipboard
format doesn't work (summary error message) from ScITE -> Writer .

- Pasting as "Unformatted text" works
- Pasting into Calc works -> Unformatted text is there default
- Works fine on Windows
- interesting is that no other format than Unformatted text is avilable but
Writer tries to paste in another format (?)

Hi,

This behavior also happens copying content from FreeMind.
OOo version is 2.4.1 working on Windows XP/SP2 and both in Portuguese (Europe)
language.
The same behavior occurs in OOo 3 Beta.

I work around it pasting in MS word first then copy&paste to OOo.
