Description diploid02 2008-04-22 03:09:16 UTC
Same Problem as:
http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=65938
Which to my knowledge has not been rectified yet in 2.4 (based on a brief search
of it's release notes).

The problem is that open office does not save my numbering of headers. I am
using header 2 and header 3 to create chapters and sub chapters for a document
however when I go to insert a chapter or sub chapter after exiting and
reentering my document I find that the number or my newly created chapter or
sub-chapter will always be 1 or 1.1 respectively.

An even worse problem is that i seem unable to reproduce this in any documents
other then the one i found it in, which I would prefer not to disclose as it
contains proprietary information vital to my team's competitive advantage. So
far at least I know one thing that does not reproduce this problem:

Opening a new document, setting up numbering for header 3 and creating a list of
3 header 3s then reopening that document and attempting to insert a header 3 in
the middle of the list. That works, which is a problem in that it breaks my
definition of this problem. :S

Anyone got an idea as to how to help make my problem more easily reproducible?
(or how to just make it go away.. i guess I could live with that too ;P )

I will also try upgrading to 2.4 and see if that makes the issue go away.

Yes, please try OOo 2.4 or current first.
If it still doesn't work, send me (es@openoffice.org) the document and set
mru@openoffice.org as CC.

Should be fixed in OO 2.4, see issue 77708.
