Description 2008-04-23 12:19:12 UTC
- create new document
- save as .ppt
- note that file->document->properties shows no modification author/date,
revision nr, etc.

reason: the filter does not call SfxObjectShell::UpdateDocInfoForSave

The system I’m using is a Windows XP Service Pack 3, with 2GB ram and Pentium
Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz. I have version OOo 3.0.0.

I was able to recreate what I believe is the issue you (mst) are reporting,
although file->document->properties didn’t make full sense to me, because in
Impress I went file->properties. After creating the .ppt I was able to look at
the .ppt’s properties by doing what I described below (Step 3) and see when it
was modified. But when I opened it up using impress there wasn’t a modification
date and time. Even after I changed the file (I first used a blank Impress file
and saved it as a .ppt, then added text and objects and re-saved it) there still
wasn’t anything for modification. However, I think that the reason is different
from what you think, and tested my theory with the following steps:

1)	Create an Impress Presentation, save as a .ppt.
2)	Save the same Impress Presentation as a .odp file.
3)	Right click on the .ppt you just saved and check the “Properties†for the
file, the modification values have been noted. (If you open the .ppt in Impress
and change it then resave the .ppt and check the Properties, the modification
values will have been updated)
4)	Open your .odp file that was saved in Step 1. If you do File->Properties,
there is modification data.

My thought is that when you save the file as a .ppt, you’re not actually saving
the Impress file, so when you open the .ppt using Impress, it creates a new .odp
file in Impress, meaning that there’s no modifications yet done to that file.
However, as explained above, if you save the actual .odp file and then check the
properties, you’re checking the properties for the .odp file, and that’s why the
modification data is updated.

Because Impress supports .ppt files, I feel this issue is a bug. It should be
able to open any file that it supports and give modification data, rather than
only giving the modification data for .odp files.

I was able to follow the steps and the modified line in file-> Properties
remained blank.

I also added a new slide then did a file->save the modified line remained empty.

1. I closed Impress
2. Used a right click-> open with Impress on the file

the file opened but the date created line in file->Properties shows all zeros
for date and time. However my name is still displayed.
I'm running version 2.4 on Windows XP.
