Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 88864
Print preview different from edit mode
Last modified: 2010-06-24 17:11:37 UTC
The print preview doesn't render the font the same way than in edit mode (but it keeps the same cell size, which is fine). Therefore, it can lead to blank spaces at print because the text is more compact in the print preview than in the edit mode while the cell size is the same. See attachment, left is the edit mode, right is the print preview. Line feeds are not at the same place. A blank space is visible (red frame). It means that the edit mode is not consistent with the print preview, user has to check systematically the layout and can't rely on the edit mode.
Created attachment 53261 [details] Screenshot of both Print preview and Edit mode at same zoom level.
It seems that checking the Use printer metrics for text formatting option i nthe general settings fixes the problem: "Use printer metrics for text formatting Specifies that printer metrics are applied for printing and also for formatting the display on the screen. If this box is not checked, a printer independent layout will be used for screen display and printing." But a printer independent layout should be fine every time, shouldn't it? Why the font display should be different between edit mode and print preview?
Can reproduce it in DEV300_m28_EN on WinXP
