Description drewjensen.inbox 2008-05-22 04:14:12 UTC
Loaded 3.0 Beta Dev M_13 from Linux.cz for Win XP - build date 5/20

Installed without removing current copy of OOo 3.0 first - final step in
installation asked to reboot PC - rebooted PC - OO.o will not load.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library:

Program: c:\program files\OpenOffice.org 3\programs\soffice.bin

R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.

Changed component to Installation from dbaccess ? force of habit I guess.
Dropped priority to p4

I went in to remove the copy of OO.o 3 and try a fresh install and found oddly
that the Add/Remove programs tool under XP was reporting not 1, not 2 but 4
copies of OO.o 3.0 Dev as being installed on my machine...

I removed each of these - the first one took a bit of time to remove, about
what one would expect, as did the 2nd, but the 3rd and 4th finished in a
flash..that was odd.

Then ran a registery cleaner - ccleaner.com

Rebooted and then did a fresh install of the m_13 files.

This time the installation process did not say I needed to reboot the system.

The application starts up with no errors now.

I am still leaving this as an issue however since it does not seem to me that
the installer is quite right - If removing old copies of OO.o first is now a
prerequisite then the installer should not proceed undtil the user does so.

does the problem still occure in a current version?
Comment 3 drewjensen.inbox 2008-08-11 15:35:52 UTC
Installing OOo300 m_1 under Ubuntu 8.04 (64bit) using the developers build from
OpenOffice.org there was no problem with older versions - it installed without a
problem and cleaned up all it needed to apparently

Setting to WORKSFORME
