Description clytie 2008-05-27 13:25:00 UTC
A user has reported this problem, and another user has confirmed it. Running OOo DEV300_m10 on
Windows XP SP2, there is a conflict between the AutoComplete feature and the Unikey Vietnamese
input software. The URL for Unikey is included above. The users are running Unikey 4.0 RC1.

To reproduce the bug using both these software packages:

1. Open Find and Replace
2. Type "da"
3. AutoComplete will suggest "da*nh sách" instead of "danh sách"
4. Type another "a", and AutoComplete displays "daâ", which does not exist in Vietnamese.

So AutoComplete and Unikey seem to be confusing each other.

The only workaround so far is to disable AutoComplete. :(

We don't know what the cause is of this problem. I will request the users also report this to the Unikey
developers. Unikey is very widely used in our community. So this problem, unfortunately, will affect
the majority of users.

Addendum: this searching occurs in the Help. That's why we haven't heard about this problem before:
we've only just finished translating the Help.

(From the user involved, on our mailing list today)
Further confirmation that the problem is restricted to the Help: when editing a text in Writer, with both
AutoComplete and Unikey enabled, this error does not occur.

The help application is not my area, only the help core. Although the problem
does not seem to occur in the Writer I doubt that this really is a Help Window
related problem. Anyway for a first look: -> pb
