Description cianoz 2008-05-29 18:46:30 UTC
If you create a document (Calc, Writer, no matter) with internal hyperlinks and
create a PDF using PDF Creator they are not preserved. The result is normal
text, with exception for the color, that is the same as the expected
hyperlink(s). External hyperlinks are correctly preserved.

Just to be clear: for internal hyperlinks I mean links that point within the
document, created by auto-index, manual bookmarks insertion or other ways (sorry
if these names are not those you see in the GUI, I'm freely translating from my
Italian version).

This behavior occurs with OOo 2.4.0 and using PDFCreator version 0.9.5 (the
latest) or 0.9.3 (the previous) and it didn't occur with previous versions of OOo.
Internal hyperlinks are correctly preserved if you create a PDF using the
built-in PDF capabilities of OOo, with "create PDF directly" (with the button)
or with the File > Export PDF feature.

I made various checks and didn't find any other cause than something wrong in
the 2.4.0 version of OOo.

I'm not sure what we should do here - it seems to be a problem of PDF creator.
Or did I misunderstand something?
Comment 2 cianoz 2008-06-04 12:48:44 UTC
I'm aware that what i've exposed seems to be a problem of PDF Creatore.
But, as you can read in my post, I made some tries to understand where the
problem stands and noticed that it occurs exclusively when you're using OOo
2.4.0 with any of the 2 latest versions of PDF Creator (0.9.3 and 0.9.5).

If you use them with any previous ver of OOo the problem does not occur. So I
have to guess that something in 2.4.0 ver is changed in respect to the past. I
made my tries with more than one PC, with Win XP and 2000 and all mix of
versions for both sw. And the result is always the same, with the bad links
generated when you use OOo 2.4.0.
I add that I'm using both OOo and PDF Creator (all versions) long since.

I think you should do some tries as i did.

I see; we should be able to find out what we have changed.
Philipp, Frank: any idea?
Comment 4 philipp.lohmann 2008-06-04 17:17:21 UTC
no idea. beppec56 did some things WRT to internal links for 2.4, but AFAIK all
the changes he did were in vcl or in sw's own PDFExportHelper.cxx - which should
not be in the picture for PDFCreator if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, could be cws beppec56pdflinks, which has been integrated for OOo 2.4:

Comment 6 philipp.lohmann 2008-06-05 08:33:33 UTC
@fme: Is that so ? I thought PDF creator does not use the export but constructs
its own PDF file ? However I must confess that I don't know how it actually works.
Comment 7 philipp.lohmann 2008-06-05 15:40:03 UTC
@fme: confirmed; PDFCreator basically prints the document to a PDFCreator
printer and adds hyperlinks later, it gets these probably over the API. Funny
enough on the homepage there is only MSO mentioned.

Table of contents including hyperlinks was printed using PrimoPDF.
Hyperlinks inactive in SumatraPDF and Foxit Reader.
