Description nickd 2008-06-10 16:46:22 UTC
Make a spreedsheet with two columns like this:

A   B
-----
1   a
2   b
3   c

copy column A
click column's C header to select it
press V
then press Ctrl-V to paste

cpu usage of calc goes to ~100%

I've seen the same behavior in
v2.4.1/english
v2.4/ubuntu/greek
v2.1/win/greek
Comment 1 hubertf 2008-06-16 13:02:09 UTC
Reproduced on my ubuntu (2.4.1)
Comment 2 hubertf 2008-06-16 13:03:39 UTC
and on gentoo (2008.0) with OO 2.4.1
Comment 3 ftoth 2008-06-18 08:37:01 UTC
Reproduced on Win XP, 2.4.1 + nl language pack 2.4.1rc2.

Note that pressing v prior to ctrl-v is essential.

A normal ctrl-c, ctrl-v sequence does not create the problem.

The issue is been reproduced in DEV300_m28 WinXP.

Do the steps :

1.Create a spreadsheet;
2.Click a column header, and then press Ctrl-C to copy the column;
3.Select a cell, double click or press F2, Ctrl-V.

Result: The spreadsheet is freezed.

confirmed
Comment 6 kla 2008-08-25 12:55:27 UTC
It doesn't freeze or crash, it takes only a painful long time (>3min).
@er: pls have a look.
Comment 7 nickd 2009-03-22 17:55:14 UTC
Just installed 3.0 (sorry, I'm a late adopter) and noticed this bug is still there
Comment 8 ooo 2009-03-24 15:58:11 UTC
Please don't fiddle around with the Version field, it denotes for which version
the issue was first reported. Thank you.
Comment 9 tan_stephen 2009-03-31 02:08:52 UTC
Confirm, the bug can be also reproduced in 2.4.2 on winxp(service pack 3) system.
Comment 10 agrawalameeta 2009-03-31 08:39:38 UTC
I was able to replicate the bug on OOO300m15 (build: 9379) running on Windows
Vista Home. It doesn't necessarily crash, just freezes and takes a long time to
process/recover.

I think this is the same root course of issue 59453. So it's a duplicate of i59453.
Comment 12 ooo 2009-11-13 15:45:28 UTC
It is not.

What happens here is that a column's data in the clipboard is attempted to be
pasted into a single cell (pressing any letter/number key or F2 or double click
switches the current cell to edit mode).
Comment 13 redflagzhulihua 2009-11-16 01:35:49 UTC
Thank you er, I neglected the one of the steps, sorry for bothering you.

Mac OS X has the same problem, it seems open office is copying all the empty cells from the collumn, it should be a programming counter for how far it should go.
Comment 15 sycer 2013-08-05 10:23:59 UTC
I've the same problem. I second that the reason is, that calc copies also all empty cells.

Meanwhile this issue is the same as:
Bug 54064
