Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 90683
Parentless dialogs do not appear in OOo's "Window" menu
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:31:14 UTC
Extension Manager dialog does not appear in OOo's "Window" menu (list of open OOo windows). The dialog is modeless, therefore it can easily put into background (behind other OOo windows). In this case there is no easy way to bring it to front again.
Sorry, but no other modeless dialog appears in the windowlist ( see tools/xml filter setting ). Gnome and Windows show the dialog in the task bar, you can use tools\extension manager to brin the dialog to front again or you can use expose on the mac to show all windows of an application ( press F10 ) or have a look at apple/system settings/expose-dashboard.
dv: I consider it a bug that no modeless dialog appears in the Window menu. At least on the Mac this seems to be usual. A took a look at "Pages", "iCal", "Safari", "Firefox" - all show their modeless dialogs in their Window menu. I will reopen the bug and change the subject (and owner) accordingly.
pl: Please take over.
You're confusing modeless with parentless. Also the task bar on any system has nothing whatsoever to do with our window menu, which only contains documents that framework/sfx know about. Adjusting title accordingly. Interestingly enough these parentless dialogs appear in the context menu of our dock icon which already has that behavior and is more of an equivalent of a task bar. However it would be better behaviour to have those identical of course. Our window menu however is governed by framework and does not know anything about dialogs; only frame windows will appear there. pl->cd: The window menu is your's I think; however if you need assistance gathering these dialog cases, give me a call. I think the target may be a little optimistic, though.
cd: This looks like a enhancement to me. The window menu was designed to show only document windows. We are not able to provide this enhancement for OOo 3.0, therefore I set this issue to 3.1.
