Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 91516
Writer "Database changer" doesn't follow Windows shortcuts
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:35:22 UTC
The datasource selector selects a shortcut as new database instead of following the shortcut to the specified folder. How to reproduce : Under Windows, create a shortcut on your desktop, pointing to a directory containing an ods file (copy the folder, then "paste as shortcut" on your desktop). Then, in Writer, choose "Edit -> Change database...", just like you would do to select an ods file for a mailing. Click the "browse" button (name may vary, my OOo is in french) to select a file, navigate to your desktop and double-click on the shortcut you created. The browsing window will close and you'll see a new database "shortcut to XXX" with no datas in it. This is obviously a bug, since Writer should follow the shortcut to the specified folder, instead of selecting the shortcut. This behavior has been observed with OOo 2.3.1 and 2.4 under Windows XP, but I suspect it will behave like this with every windows and every OOo since 2.0.
This has nothing to do with following links, but with the inability to select spreadsheet documents in this dialog. Directly selecting the linked .ods (instead of the link) also gives the same problem.
Reassigned to MSC.
I can reproduce Issue 91516 in master version OOo-dev 3.1.0 (OOO310m9 Build:9396) for Windows XP SP3, but in other way. After choosing "Edit -> Exchange Database..." and clicking the "browse" button to select a file, I navigate to my desktop and double-click on the shortcut I have created. And I get the name of my shortcut as a name of database instead of getting access to brows inside it. (See attachment).
