Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 91778
scrolling in font menu with "Show Preview of Fonts" on crashes OpenOffice
Last modified: 2008-12-02 17:18:48 UTC
Scrolling in the font menu with font preview on crashes OpenOffice 3.0b2 consistently after about 10 seconds of scrolling using either mouse scrollwheel, clicking in empty space in scrollbar, dragging the scrollbar "blob", or even with the arrow keys. Does not seem to be a specific font triggering it - it seems to happen at different places in the menu at different times. Does not seem to generate a crashlog. Happens regardless of the state of "Font History" in preferences. Crash does not happen when "Show Preview of Fonts" is turned off.
oh - I forgot: Mac OS X 10.5.4
1. Does the problem happen with "OpenOffice X11" or "OpenOffice Aqua"? 2. Please open the fontlist, read the fontname at the bottom while scrolling very slowly until it crashes 3. Try again with font preview disabled until the last fontname above shows up. Which fontname is below that?
Added macport on CC + setting keyword @hdu : 3.0b2 is probably Aqua :) And the crash looks similar to the one I mentionned in issue 90575 Does the crash still occur with the fix fne included in a11y02 ? Here I can't reproduce with my own build, after 3 minutes of playing with the scrollbar( Mac OS X 10.5.0). But I only use DEV300_m23, so the problem is maybe caused by something else. @arvidtp : can you please tell us more ? Do you use Intel or PowerPC ? Does a crash report appear when OpenOffice.org is crashing ? If so, please attach it on the issue. thanks
Can anyone from the community confirm this problem?
I found the problem a while ago, but lost the link to this issue, and could not find it again. Actually - i couldn't even figure out how to get back to issue tracker - that should be made much more obvious on the website - the project would probably get more bug reports/feedback. It was a font called "Bauhaus 93" (i think - i could have the number wrong) that was causing the crash (Mac os x 10.5, intel). Once i disabled it, everything was fine. I could send it to someone for testing. I have no idea what the root cause of the issue is, but it seems that certain fonts can cause this crash on mac. I dont have a crash report of it, and I'm on a windowz box right now. cheers! Arvid
@arvidtp: send me the font by e-mail mentioning the issue ID in the mail subject.
I got the font. Need to test now...
I couldn't reproduce the crash with this font.
