Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 91808
Handout Field Data not printing
Last modified: 2008-09-26 13:14:03 UTC
Current (2.4.1) on Ubuntu Hardy: Microsoft (Office 2003 SP3) .ppt imported. Insert > Page Number ... > Notes and Handouts > Tick page number box View > Handout - no page number visible? File > Print > Options > Handouts > OK > OK (Xerox Phaser 8560) No page numbers on the handout, but the slides have slide numbers (where they can be seen against the background!) There may be some overlap with Issue 85732 Several UI issues here as well as the absence of any help to the poor soul who has to put the sheets in order - see separate issue
View/Handout shows a kind of master view for the handouts. In the lower rigth corner there is a placeholder (<number>) for the page number. Insert/Page number/notes and handouts/page number activates or deactivates them for the printout. Do you have an offical and original version 2.4.1 from OOo or from some other distributor (Ubuntu)? Please make sure you have the original version.
I'm on a standard Ubuntu Hardy distro. I have V3 beta on XPpro, and will update this to beta2 then see what it is like on that. Things are complicated for me by the fact that I can only get to the same printer on both OSs at school, which probably means next week. Chris
Environment Settings: Computer: AMD Anthon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.01 GHz, 4.00GB of RAM NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT OS: Windows XP 64bit SP 2 Open Office version OOo-Dev 3.0 (build OOO300_m4) Process 1: Start open office click presentation choose empty presentation and click next choose original slide design and click next (output medium is set to screen) no slide effect transition, speed is medium, presentation type is default from Insert menu select page number... (pop up window) leave slide tab alone (Data and Time is set to fixed and footer is checked) click Notes and Handouts already has header and footer checked with data and time set to fixed check box for page numbers click apply all Result of Process 1: *Before making slides or saving presentation* From View menu choose handout Page number area displays in bottom right of page "Page number" displays in grey above <number> which is in black (Note that neither in normal or handout are slide numbers displayed as being set / which they are not) *After making 10 slides with text only and saving as an odp file, slides layout set to "title, text"* From View menu choose handout Page number area displays in bottom right of page "Page number" displays in grey above <number> which is in black Printing Handouts: Select File > print set to handouts print range is set to all order is set to horizontal click okay -each slide has a correct slide number (Note this was never checked when inserting page numbers for notes and handouts) -each page has correct page number slide numbers go 1 2 3 4 5 6 Note: when printing individual slide, slide number does not appear Process 2: Start open office click presentation choose From template (with drop down set to presentations and original) click next output medium is set to original, click next no slide effect transition, speed is medium, presentation type is default click next leave entire Describe your ideas blank and click next all pages are checked (Title, Long term Goal, Customer Wishes, Fulfilling Customer Needs, Cost Analysis, Strengths and Advantages, Next Steps of Action) click create Result of Process 2: *Before changing default slides or saving presentation* From View menu choose handout only 4 slides display - landscape paper, with no page number area showing Printing Handouts: Select File > print set to handouts print range is set to all order is set to horizontal click okay no slides numbers or page numbers are displayed (only page numbers was set for handouts) save presentation as an odp file before making any changes to default slides same results as before saving Template Testing: Repeat process 2 with Black and White, same results as original no page numbers display in handout, nore when printed Repeat process 2 with Blue Border chosen (no slides will be made, make the same way as in Process 1) - Both page and slide numbers print in same way as Process 1 Note: when printing slides, slide numbers do not appear Comments: I believe that template that has premade slides, the page numbers will not be displayed in handout nor printed when slides are printed as handouts (this is from testing the original and black and white templates that come with premade slides). On the other hand, as long as the template just has a background and nothing else as in Process 1 and choosing a template such as blue border, page numbers work correctly.
I forgot to mention in Environment Settings that I am using a HP Deskjet 5740 inkjet printer.
