Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 92636
Deleted formula broken with "Change Recording" turned on
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:44:35 UTC
1. Create a new Writer document. 2. Type a few words, for example "This is a formula: " 3. Insert a formula (Insert>Object>Formula), for example "dy over dx = f(x)y " 4. Type some more words, for example "to illustrate this problem" 5. Turn on Change Recording (Edit>Changes>Record) & ensure the Show option is ticked/checked. 6. Select the last word before the formula, the formula and the first word after the formula, in our example "formula: <the formula itself> to". Delete the selection. The deleted *words* will be struck through, the formula won't be. 7. Save the document. At this point we see the bug: the formula itself disappears and the "text" of the formula changes to "Object 2" in a box. This text is topped by an icon that looks like a glass of champagne at about 45 degrees. The formula itself is *not* recoverable even after rejecting all changes (Edit>Changes>Accept or Reject>Reject All).
I checked with "2.4.1 Multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [680m17(Build9310)]" and can confirm the reported effect. Same with with "Ooo-dev 3.0.0 Beta Multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [300m29 (Build9339)]" .
MRU->AMA: as described, when deleting a text (used redlining) containing an OLE object (tested with Math and Chart), the object will be broken after saving the document.
Due to our workload and resources (development as well as QA) I've to retarget this issue to OOo3.2.
