Description christoph 2008-09-02 18:20:52 UTC
The AutoFilter feature (Extras -- Filter... -- AutoFilter) adds dropdown buttons
to the spreadsheet cells. There is no real alternative: using the Standard
Filter in the same menu may remove the AutoFilter controls and does not provide
enough data fields to show the filter criteria (refer to issue #17995).

Proposal: Usually, Alt+CursorDown opens such drop-down menus. In Calc, this key
combination is used to resize the current cell. It may make sense to add a
context sensitive exception here:
* If the cursor is inside a cell with an AutoFilter dropdown, then pressing
Alt+CursorDown will open the drop-down.
* If the drop-down is open, then pressing Alt+CursorUp will close it.

This proposal has been discussed with fl.

For selection list (including validity) and DataPilot page fields we use Ctrl+D.
Shouldn't we extend that instead of Alt+Down?
Comment 2 frank.loehmann 2008-10-10 16:37:14 UTC
We should use ALt+Cursor down in Calc to open the list box for consistency
reasons too. Row height could be changed when cell is in edit mode or at least
via dialog or on any other cell of that row.

If we have more than one list box on a cell (filter+validation), we should
cascade it. First Alt+Cursor down opens the first list box, the second Alt +
Cursor down the next one. Alt + Cursor up always closes current opened list box.

@MD: Another issue for the accessibility list.

Remvoving keyword accessibility because though this is not consistent with the
rest of the UI (Ctrl+Down) there IS a shortcut to access the the filter listbox.

@es: Are you sure, there is a shortcut? What key is assigned?

Still Reproducible with server installation of "AOO 4.0.0-Dev – English UI / German locale [AOO400m2(Build:9701) - Rev. 1489073 2013-06-03 13:48:37]" on WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", own separate user profile. I can't find any possibility to do an auto filter action only using keyboard. And so I see this one as an accessibility related issue

Additional Info:
a) There is a mistake in the report, Auto Filter will be added with 'Data -> Filter -> Autofilter', not with "Extras -- Filter... -- AutoFilter"
