When importing a word doc some headings got an empty heading above them like this: 2.1 2.2 this is the real heading I fixed this by changing the type of the 2.1 line to default instead of heading2 . I think this caused by a heading containing whitespace in front of the real heading (esp CRs) also see bug 9363 Lett me know if you need an example doc.
I was checking the doc some more and found an important clue: a heading 6 showed up in the middle of 2 paragraphs the problem seems to be that word ignores empty headings, but leaves an empty line! (doesn't number them, doesn't show a number on the page, doesn't show them in the doc) So a fix might be to replace headings which are empty (all whitespace) with just a cr in default. I've attached the doc to bug 9366 you can see the heading in par 5.4
Thank you for using and supporting OOo. Could you please attach a small, simple file that demonstrates this problem? You could trim down the file you are refer to.

Also with the second example the empty heading 2 (the first) doesn't show up in a toc, in oo it does: suggested fix remove empty headings.
Thanks for the update. I'm assuming that the attachments are OOo text docs to exported to Word format? If this is true, please attach the original OOo text doc. I can see the differences on how OOo and Word reads the .doc files, but I think we need the original OOo text doc to figure out what is going on ( well at least I do :) ).
I created the examples in msword, that seemed the right thing todo to me, so there is no sxw version.
Thanks for the update. This is an known issue. Issue 2110 refers to this problem. Changing this to a feature request. From issue 2110 MRU: Yes, the problem is, that in Word you are able to exclude paragraphs from Outline Numbering, though these are formatted with the corresponding paragraph style. I´ve written a feature request to our PM that we should include such a function for better compatibility. There are also some notes in 2110 on an user proposed workaround. That's not a problem of the Word import. Word and Writer just work differently in this case: Word does not give numbers to empty Headings, Writer does. So it is a fifty-fifty discussion about the better way... MRU->BH: But what I can imagine: a new compatibility option for "including empty Headings into Outline Numbering"
I think this issue is fixed on 1.9m84
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".
