Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 93874
WW8: nested table crash when Opening Microsoft Word Document
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:43:11 UTC
Hello, OpenOffice Writer crash when I open a Microsoft Word Document (that I will attach). This is on Fedora 7 x86-64. I have also tried it with OpenOffice 2.2 and 2.4 on Windows XP, OpenOffice 2.0 on Centos-4.5 x86, and OpenOffice 3.0RC1 (32-bit) on Fedora 7 x86-64. All of them crash, but I can only get the stack trace on the first system I mentioned. Step to Reproduce: 1. Open openoffice writer 2. File --> Open, navigate to the file, press Open 3. OpenOffice crash. 3a. On my Fedora 7 system, the crash gave me the backtrace 3b. On the Windows system, I get the dialog box"Due to an unexpected error, OpenOffice.org crashed. ..." I will attach the back trace. Please let me know if there's anything else I can provide to help solving this issue. Thank you. RDB

MRU->HBRINKM: it looks, that in this case the nested tables cause the crash. When I delete one of the inner tables, import will not crash anymore.

Follow-up: Issue 97354
ready for QA
Verified in CWS hb15. The import will not crash anymore, but the document will not look as expected due to issue 13791 (means, this does not need to be filed again).
Checked fix in DEV300m41.
