If I view files in the samples folder in the "Templates and Documents" 
dialog "Samples" only the Icons show up, the file name is missing, except the 
last item wich show icon and file name. The "Templates" folder show's nothing 
except a "Default" folder which show's when opened not only the default 
template but all files in the template folder.
Two different machines "win98se" show the sam result.

Please try using the latest OOo 1.1 Rc5, 
Your version already old enough, and many bug fixes since your version 
and 1.1 RC5. If the problem still happend in 1.1 RC5 please report back

Can confirm this with OOo 1.1.0(en). Have copied some docs into
C:\Programme\OpenOffice.org1.1.0\share\samples\english folder which
was empty. Then > New > Templates ... > Samples shows a list of doc
icons without names, only the last shows a name.
