Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 94029
OpenOffice Improvement program: Query Dialog not shown
Last modified: 2009-06-10 11:30:37 UTC
The specification says: "After installation of the extension, the following dialog is shown:" http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/User_Experience/OpenOffice.org_User_Feedback_Extension#Query_Dialog This dialog is shown after Office restart, not after installation.
Showing a dialog after installation is not an option offered by the current extension framework. There might be a way an unclean way to implement this, but I guess that is not intented. @cj: Is showing the dialog after an restart enough? The extension does not begin to take effect before an restart anyway.
Than we need to display a "Restart to complete the installation" Information. With a button [Restart OpenOffice.org] +------------------------------------------+ | OpenOffice.org User Feedback Extension | +------------------------------------------+ | / \ Restart to complete | | / i \ the installation | | ----- | +------------------------------------------+ | [Restart OpenOffice.org] | +------------------------------------------+
Currently, there is no clean way to present a dialog after the installation of an extension - no matter if its a "restart OOo" dialog or something else.
Another possibility would be to abuse the license dialog for extension installation for this. However, declining the "license" would prevent the extension to be installed at all. Also it would need to be clarified with mh if there are undesired sideeffects doing this (translation etc. for example).
depending on 79158 for installation hooks
We are prebundling the extension with 3.1. By prebundling this is not a big problem anymore - The dialog shows up after the first start wizard. It would be much prettier to have the invitation as part of the startup wizard, but that would also require "hooks" for the extension that are not available yet.
resolving as worksforme as this has been integrated directly in the office with OOO310 and is not an extension anymore
therefore closed
removing depends
