Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 94438
Arial french accents incorrect
Last modified: 2008-11-05 13:42:21 UTC
When I try to type with a Swiss French keyboard an invoice the French accents are not as expected on the keyboard. I found a workaround by changing the font to Bitstream Vera Sans, which has the correct mapping and is close to the Arial font in style. I will try to attach the file but the interface shortly.

MRU->ES: please have a look ;-)
The accents are ok in your document when opened on Windows. You say "...changing the font to Bitstream Vera Sans, which has the correct mapping" so indeed I guess that the Arial you have on your system is defect. Try to input those characters in a text editor such as Gedit or Kedit using Arial. Please also try the current version: http://download.openoffice.org/680/?intcmp=1235
Hi, I tried Gedit and the default font shows the french accents correctly. I then changed the preference to Arial font 12 points. The accents show up correctly. This suggests to me the fonts are installed correctly and the mapping is only incorrect in Openoffice. I will have to try installing the suggested snapshot on another machine (test) to be able to compare results with the new 3.0 release candidate 3. More later. Thanks for your efforts. Gerold
