Copy and Paste of text in Impress 3.0 is broken.

1. Create a new (empty) Presentation.
2. Select a layout for the slide which contains a title and an itemized list
(this is the normal standard layout which you would use throughout a presentation).
3. Go to the "itemized list" field and create an item by typing some text and
pressing enter.
4. Now create a subitem by pressing "Tab" in the second line and typing some
text followed by "Enter".line.
5. Create another two subitems.
6. Mark the text of a subitem and copy it by pressing "CTRL+C".
7. Create a new Subitem and paste the text by pressing "Ctrl+V".

Now you should see that the formatting of the text is broken. The font size is

In my opinion this is a P2 bug which should be definitely fixed in OOo 3.0.1.

It should be marked as a stopper for 3.0.1.

Reproducible. Reassigned.
But it is not a prio 2 issue, please have a look at

Ok, I am sorry. You are right. It is a P3 issue.

It seems as if this only happens when there are subitems.

Is it possible to suggest this bug for OOo 3.0.1 since the released was delayed
by one month?

I think "copy+paste" is such a basic functionality that it has to work.
Comment 6 tommy27 2008-11-20 21:25:22 UTC
i agree. i have raised my 2 votes for this issue.
Comment 7 gehmen 2008-11-21 09:41:18 UTC
I agree, I raised 2 votes. Please fix in 3.0.1
Comment 8 groucho266 2008-12-09 14:20:01 UTC
Setting target to OOo 3.2 due to time constraints.
Comment 9 parity 2008-12-09 15:15:41 UTC
Shifting this issue to 3.2 is really bad since it is a basic functionality.

Comment 10 groucho266 2008-12-09 15:36:44 UTC
@parity: You seem to imply that I don't think that this is basic functionality.
Well, I do. But still, there are many other issues which I think are more serious.

But this is open source. If this is important to you then help me fix it. Or
let me help you fix it. Or tell me which other 3.1 issue to set to 3.2 instead.
Comment 11 mdelorme 2009-08-06 09:15:00 UTC
I found an efficient way to make things ok after pasting
 1. select the text box
 2. right click then Default Format

Not perfect but it's working
Comment 12 hardy314 2009-08-06 17:29:20 UTC

This is a nice idea. But unfortunatelly this "default formatting" also destroys
any other special formatting inside the whole textbox (different textcolors,
fonts,subscripts,...) so I could hardly ever use it in my typical presentations.

I am still hopeing that someone will eventually fix this very nasty bug, since
it drives my frustration level with Impress pretty often high upwards.
Comment 13 parity 2009-09-16 09:58:37 UTC
Is there still a chance to get this fixed for 3.2?
Comment 14 tommy27 2009-09-16 17:06:50 UTC
+1 hopefully to be fixed in 3.2... this issue is quite annoying
Comment 15 cno 2009-09-22 06:29:41 UTC
Strange bug indeed.
Another partial work around is using Paste special.
Comment 16 tommy27 2009-09-22 21:02:55 UTC
it is very likely that this issue will be fixed soon since has been elected a
3.2 stopper
Comment 17 groucho266 2009-09-24 15:50:33 UTC
Maybe the problem is that CTRL-V does "Paste Special" which inserts the text in
its original indentation, regardless of the indentation at the cursor location.

This may "work as designed" but not "as expected."

@cl: please have a look.
Comment 18 parity 2009-09-24 18:41:41 UTC
I don't think that it behaves as specified (but maybe I got you wrong). When I
paste from subitems (Font Size 20) to subitems on the same level (also Font Size
20) the result should have the font size 20.

Or did you mean something else?

@cl: Issue 91408 describes a similar problem. Is it connected or duplicate?
